Original Gift Idea: Canned Air from your favourite city

So it's your well-traveled, already-have-that-and-also-that friend's birthday and you have givers block (similar to writer's block but referring to people who need to buy a gift and struck a blank). You've been staring at the Amazon recommendations screen for hours and still clueless, fear not! Why not get them Canned Air from one of their favourite cities; be it one they've been to and adore or one they've always wanted to visit.

There are a number of cities you can choose from in the Etsy shop. The product page says it best:

"Get yourself a piece of the City to remember. Feeling down? Got the blues? Buy a whole box of Air and open the cans whenever you feel sad, remember the atmosphere, marvelous time you spent in Paris and feel better. Never been to Paris? Order your can online and begin your journey while still at home!"

I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed that they do not have Canned Air: Cape Town :-(

I love when companies get clever and use unconventional, yet clever, marketing tactics to draw attention to their brand. BOS Ice Tea with the help of Cow Africa did just that with a world first; a Twitter-activated vending machine.

Said vending machine is situated at Wembley Square (Cape Town) for the time being and will dispense a free tin of BOS Ice tea when you tweet using the tag @Bos and the hashtag '#BosTweet4T'

If ever you are looking for a dining table, like I was recently - definitely add Eco Furniture Design to your list. I came across these guys on Gumtree and bought a beautiful 8-seater, 1.8m dining table on the spot - at a very reasonable price I might add. 

VAMP ... re-discovered

Quite some time ago I came across something that I now consider a Cape Town gem; VAMP. Vamp takes mid-century furniture and decor items, restores them and more often than not give their vamp-stamp; i.e. add a twist that give these pieces a new lease on life.
