Trying a local delicacy when traveling could go one of two ways; the cause of you not being able to be more than 10 meters from your hotel bathroom for 2 days, OR, more often than not, it is an integral element in truly experiencing the culture. Let's focus on the latter :-)
As with most things that taste finger-licking good, it's not necessarily in-line with your carb-and-sugar-absent diet. Try it though ... you know you want to.
